The passport is reached through a data carrier on the battery — in practice, a QR code conforming to ISO/IEC 18004. It must be printed at sufficient resolution and error-correction to survive a physical label, and it must point to a URL that will not change.

Every in-scope battery must carry a QR code (ISO/IEC 18004) or equivalent data carrier that resolves to its passport. It must be print-grade and durable, and point to a permanent URL.
