Conformity assessment is the process of demonstrating that a battery meets the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 before it is placed on the market. The manufacturer must apply the conformity assessment procedure (module) set out in the Regulation, which for many requirements involves a notified body, and on success draws up the EU declaration of conformity and affixes the CE marking. Successful conformity assessment is a precondition for lawfully placing a battery on the EU market.
