A notified body is a conformity assessment body designated by an EU Member State and notified to the Commission to carry out third-party conformity assessment tasks under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. Where the applicable conformity assessment procedure requires third-party involvement, the notified body examines the battery and its technical documentation and issues the relevant certificate. Notified bodies are among the parties that, under Annex XIII, may access certain restricted battery passport data.
