Industrial battery

Under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 an industrial battery is a battery designed for industrial uses — and, residually, any battery that is neither a portable, LMT, EV, nor starting-lighting-ignition (SLI) battery, excluding very small portable categories. The battery passport obligation under Article 77 applies to industrial batteries with a capacity greater than 2 kWh from 18 February 2027. Industrial batteries are also subject to carbon footprint, recycled content, and performance requirements that phase in by category.
